According to PPM, the zoccolo/dado, today completely faded, would have been painted black (a colour not very stable), only decorated with splashes of white, yellow and red: the middle zone of the walls would have had a red background divided into two panels of different widths edged with a yellow border: the upper zone would have been white. At the base of the west wall was the recess for the couch.

According to Wallace-Hadrill, this double shop, had two rooms decorated in Style III, one of which had a mythological painting.

The shop was linked to VI.14.9, which had a back room and a yard.

According to PPM, on the north wall the III Style painted decoration, with a black zoccolo and red middle zone is now almost destroyed. However, the five separate panels divided by either narrow panels or columns on the north wall can still be distinguished, the three panels on the left, would have been in the anteroom, and the central panel showed a painting of a sitting female figure in the company of two masculine figures. This was interpreted as Helen and Paris (see Helbig 1387b). The square outline is just about visible in the above photo, but unrecognisable).

The subjects of the panels in the side panels, today are also unrecognisable, and were missing from the 19th century descriptions.

In the alcove was a single large panel, separated by a candelabra that, according to Fiorelli, held a painting depicting two litigants in front of a magistrate. Apparently, the same decoration was repeated on the other walls.

VI.14.8 Pompeii. December 2006. Doorway to small room on right side, with stairs to upper floor ? According to Helbig, visible in the second rear room on the left was an unclear painting. See Helbig, W., 1868. Wandgemälde der vom Vesuv verschütteten Städte Campaniens. Leipzig: Breitkopf und Härtel. (1387b). According to Fiorelli, the painting perhaps showed two litigants in the presence of a magistrate? See Pappalardo, U., 2001. La Descrizione di Pompei per Giuseppe Fiorelli (1875). Napoli: Massa Editore. (p.157). According to Eschebach, this may also have been known as the “Casetta dei Litiganti”, presumably named from the painting. See Eschebach, L., 1993. Gebäudeverzeichnis und Stadtplan der antiken Stadt Pompeji. Köln: Böhlau. (p.209)
